Barn building

You probably know Garry has been working on this heifer barn on and off this spring.  The plans came from Manitoba,  it's a shorter version of the barn that's on the farm back home.

They worked on it in March before the building team was here, while the team was here, and after they left in April,  when they weren't planting crops.

Now it's May and all the trusses were finally built on Tuesday,  so Max has been trying to get a crane out to the village to lift them up for the roof.  May 2nd, at noon,  it arrived and here's some photos.

Kolya and Max were hanging up top pretty much all afternoon,  with Nikolai,  Garry and Victor also doing mostly ground work. A few other students Vasa, Inna,  Sergey and Tolik were helping with setting up the trusses for the crane. Nikolai is on the top of the wall with Vasa in some photos.

You'll see when there's only two trusses up around  twelve thirty that the sky looks threatening,  it sprinkled a bit, but by four, there's a lovely blue sky.

Garry tells me the last truss was up about six pm, and by seven they had it strapped and were done for the day. This morning they will finish strapping the roof, and order metal to finish the building,  maybe after they make hay?
