It's difficult to know what to write sometimes, too. We are at the lake for a few days, Garry is trying to fix the furnace, he didn't leave cold houses behind when he returned from Ukraine, it was barely above freezing in here when we arrived yesterday. We did get it closer to 15 C by evening, and hopefully the part works, or we'll get someone else out to fix it. Garry's looking forward to some ice fishing this week and it looks like a good week for long walks with highs of -2 and lows of -13 in the forecast.
In Ukraine, after some cold weather, they are predicting pluses in the teens. Garry has had a few video calls with Max and some of the students and even voice messages from four year old Danil yesterday (he'd been to the store and bought candy, apparently).
I assume you have seen the news of the terrible bombing in Dnipro, the city we have so many friends in, some live (or lived) very close to the apartment block that was destroyed. This morning they are saying 40 died, but 30 missing yet. It seems impossible that this is happening to people just trying to live their lives in the midst of this war, going about an ordinary afternoon and boom a missile explodes destroying families and homes.
This past week we had some sad news, James Friesen, who came on a building team to Ukraine, died in a snowmobile accident. That's James with the beard, in the photo of the Steinbach team on a Mennonite tour in April 2018.
