Last year, Vlad, one of our former students joined the army, and after basic training, has been in combat for about a year now. He calls us sometimes, when he is on break (away from the frontlines) or when he's been injured. He had a few weeks in hospital after getting hit with some shrapnel and getting a concussion, among other injuries.
He called last week, he was on break, and sent us some photos. So far he has won two medals, and has some certificates. He said he hasn't received the second medal yet. He also has a red beret now with his uniform. He must be in his early 30's.

Garry will be in Ukraine for a couple weeks in November and will visit Novogard Poland, where we helped out for a couple months in 2022, before flying home.
