Update from the village

Garry was talking with Max recently and he says the crops are the worst we've had in the village. They have baled all the wheat straw they could find, and don't have nearly enough bales for the usual giant pyramid.

The sunflower crop is short, I have proof, in this photo from Facebook of Julia, who is maybe five feet tall. The local farmers always say sunflowers do best in drought because they pull all the water and nutrients from the soil.

It is so dry that wells are going dry in the village, including the one that the cheese house uses. Right now they are using irrigation water (piped in from the river), but that gets turned off in the fall. The corn crop is okay, because that field is irrigated.

However, to make you less sad about that news, here are some photos from the village, they have started a preschool program for the children in our program, kind of moms and tots, it looks like it was at the church.
