Planting

Garry has borrowed a seeder this afternoon, and is busy putting some millet seed in the ground. You might remember he planted some across the highway two years ago as a crop to harvest in the fall.  Last night we had a thunderstorm dump some more rain here, and he decided it was wet enough to work up five acres and try to get some more feed for the cows this winter. He must be still planning on getting a few acres seeded to winter wheat next month, and I think some rye, which would be for green feed or silage in the spring. At least it looks like the ground is getting moist enough to plant anyway.

Maybe leaving the car windows down helped the rain last night?
Garry was off to Zaporosia all day yesterday with stuff for the trade school, while I spent the morning picking and husking the sweet corn from the garden (about 50-60 ears), a large pile of green beans- the ones I planted at the end of May are really producing now- along with peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes. I thought the load of Garry's laundry I hung out might bring some rain, but the clouds blew on by. I spent all the rest of the day cooking and freezing all that stuff. The freezer is getting really full.

Maxim has been very busy working on his house, the heat in the floor system. He plans to go visit family at thee end of the week, his brother Andrei returned yesterday.
