Good things come to those who wait

It seems like I have been doing lots of waiting lately. Right now I am waiting for the Super Bowl to start... its about an hour before midnight here and three and a half hours to kickoff. Garry was trying to sleep until game time, but his cold has returned with a vengeance this weekend and he's coughing so hard that I don't think he is sleeping much. I have been waiting my whole life for the Eagles to win a Super Bowl, so I am hoping this is the year. Yes, they did win the championship when I was a toddler before there was a Superbowl game, but it would be exciting.

In the last couple days, we have driven all over. On Wednesday, I had class last, we cooked gretcka (buckwheat grain) two ways. Garry went into Zap for another treatment after classes and bought some parts to fix something.

After the class we had coffee with one guy. Nikita, who was home during his break from university in Kiev. I tried the restaurant's cheesecake and we were amazed because it tasted like North American cheesecake. It's like ordering cheesesteak when you aren't near Philly, because you will usually be disappointed.

I had made cookies to help out with coffee-time since Steve, Jo and the boys got back from Manitoba just a few days before.

Friday morning and we were off to Molachansk to buy frozen semen, Garry had bred two cows on Thursday and was all out. We made it there by 11:30 and then headed back toward Zaporosia.

We had to pick up two hot water heaters because they had to replace both of them at the barn, one broke the day before and the second that morning. Then we swung by the hospital for Garry's ten minute treatment with the "magic wand" (see previous post if you want more details). I sat in the car while he was gone, watching the dog standing in the road and all the cars politely driving around him for 20-25 minutes.

It was foggy as we left the village and even more foggy when we got back, but not the whole trip since there was less (melting) snow south of Zap. Garry had someone come to the door wanting their cow bred shortly after we got back, (good thing we had went to get the semen) and then he helped install the water heaters before we had to leave again. Just before we left, the fertilizer delivery showed up at 4 pm, the guys had to get it off the truck and stored in the shed for spring.

No automatic alt text available. We had scheduled our first Bible study SEI followup meeting for that evening, and Garry said he would have cancelled because of the fog if we weren't also picking up two new guys for the project someone was sending us on the bus to Dnepro that evening. The fog was thick as we drove in and more so as we drove home. It was a slow ride back, but we made it safely. We dropped the guys at the new house where Anton is the new group home supervisor. We decided to move the two grad guys out of the apartment and into the house there. We'll see if the new guys stay after the week trial period. Luckily they are not more Sashas, but are named Valera and Sergei. They have already been to the barn, and went on Saturday evening's excursion to Just Youth.

However, they are living with us (and Alona) at our house for a couple days while the apartment is refreshed with some cleaning and a fresh coat of paint.

Saturday night Garry drove them into Zap for Just Youth with everyone else, and today they walked to church with us. A couple of the boys showed up at church too.

More snow had melted overnight, and a little rain fell today to melt more.

This afternoon I had a pizza making clinic for Yana, Nelly and Vova, who was hosting a youth event in the village at his guys house and wanted to make some of my pizza for snack. Now they have all the recipes and we made 6 pizzas for them to share there. So it's been a little busy and I have not got much crocheting done.
