Or Garry is, I arrived in Nowogard for the first time this morning. We spent most of yesterday in the airport in Munich, arrived in Warsaw about 9:30 pm, slept in a nice hotel and flew to Szczecin early this morning.
Backing up to where we left off, I had a good (but fast two day) visit with my dad, picked Garry up at the Newark airport on June 30 about ten o'clock at night, the next morning we drove about six hours to the reunion in Pennsylvania after a stop at the church we were married in 44 years ago. We even think we found the tree where this wedding photo was taken that evening.
We had a lovely time with the Verhoogs, all of Garry's siblings were there, our son Matt and family came too. I was glad I flew through Minneapolis when their luggage took two and a half hours to come out in Toronto (longer than the flight from Regina!) The rest of the boys were busy with the Go Kart race in Manitoba. We paddled canoes, cooked, ate, there was a belated 91st birthday party and hymn sing for Garry's father, had campfires, made smores, played games and painted.
We drove back to NJ on Tuesday and visited a little more with my dad before flying off to Europe Wednesday evening. Ceasary picked us up this morning- the airport's just 18 kilometers for Nowograd, and his wife made a lovely breakfast for us. After a nap we returned to their house for soup before going to the center, since today the center was open.
We saw the swans by the lake between, and afterwards followed someone to deliver food and leftover bread a ways away for Ukrainians that are picking raspberries. We managed to find our way home, had sandwiches and walked by the lake again before settling in for the night... and writing this post.
