a little hay
Tuesday afternoon Garry went and picked up his alfalfa from the half garden. It was cut last week before he came to pick me in Kiev- it just got pushed into the barn to feed the cows this week or so.
the late cornfield
Garry took me out to see the fields Sunday late afternoon (after we got home from church we took an afternoon nap) it was about time for the cows to come home from the field (around 7 pm) The corn is growing well- it should be ready to make silage in 3-4 weeks. The picture to the right shows what happened when the village herd took a walk in the field (they just ate a bit around the edge of the field.)
the big field around by the pond
Garry chopped a big piece out of the center of this field for the corn silage pile he made in the middle of August. The rest will be combined for grain; it will be stored at the mill with the wheat he bought this summer they will grind them together and add salt (hopefully minerals) and deliver it into our bin. It will be dry enough to harvest in a couple weeks also, as it must get dry in the field.
Sunflowers
not that we have any- but we are seeing some sunflower fields being combined now
alfalfa field
Looks like we stopped to check out that new seeding of alfalfa- it is growing back a little after that second cutting at the beginning of August.
The corn field across the highway
As you can see it's all gone! It became the rest of that corn silage pile and they even got it all plowed up and ready for next year.
