11-11-11

It has been a slow day here in the village, there is plowing being done, the alfalfa field - the bad third of the field, Max couldn't plow it with our tractor, Garry says that even the big tractor is going slow through it.

There were a few snowflakes again this morning...I have been thinking about Seth, since today is his eighteen birthday. Seth pointed out a while ago that this year his birthday would fall on 11-11-11, how cool is that?

It's hard to believe that our little boy is officially grown up! I know Jonah is the official baby of the family, but since they were small people would assume they were twins. Of course, looking at the kindergarten photos of all the boys, you'd know that Seth's "real" twin is Josh, who is ten years older. They look identical, blonde hair, adorable grin - except one is wearing a Duck Tales sweatshirt, which puts Josh in an earlier decade. We have always told Seth that we knew what he'd look like when he grew up- lucky him.

When Seth was born on Remembrance Day, Garry said he'd be able to remember this one's birthday- it's true he has trouble with most of the dates, after our first two. Seth always has has birthday off from school, since it is a school holiday in Manitoba, so hopefully he is enjoying his day this year. If he was here, we could go to the circus, which was the boys favorite thing to do here in Ukraine, I saw the new circus in Dnepro features the flying cranes, which we saw once before, and elephants, which we have never seen, even though there have been every other kind of animal act you could think of- even porcupines!

Two years ago we checked out the 4-D movie and Mc Donalds at the MostCity Centre in Dnepropetroesk. Last year I missed Seth's birthday because I was in New Jersey after my grandfather died, so he and Jonah baked the cake and this year I am missing it because he is home in Canada. I think that Jessica and Jonah are going to the farm to help celebrate Seth's birthday, so I am sure there will be cake. We are going to phone before we go to bed- afternoon there. We are going to have pizza and Lois and Clark tonight- almost like when the boys were here for Friday nights.
