Broken and fixed

Today I am feeling under the weather with this cold, I was still in bed when Garry came inside from morning chores. He told me when he went outside this morning, he thought it was quiet in the barn, the vaccuum pump wasn't running, so he thought that the ladies must have finished milking early. Then he noticed the pails sitting around the barn when he went to feed the cows. They were milking the cows by hand.

Garry tried turning the switch on, but he said somrthing was obviously jammed inside, so he turned it off and finished feeding the cows. Afterwards, he took the pump apart where it broke earlier in the summer, all looked fine there, so he took it apart the only other place it opened, and discovered a cracked and broken bearing. So he was off the Dnepropetroesk with the bearing before nine.

I was making chicken soup for lunch around 11 am when he returned with a new bearing. He said that he had gone with Victor to a store that sells bearings, but it was closed since it's Saturday, then they tried the LADA parts place, because you never know, but no they didn't have it. They went to the metal market, and got the exact bearing they needed at a small stand. Garry said the guy looked at the broken one, said it was a high quality European one and rooted around in the back and came out with the exact new bearing. Garry couldn't believe that he got it today!

Garry was able to get the vaccuum pump put back together and working before the afternoon milking, he was even back in the house by 12:30 for his soup. Yesterday he went and bought a paint brush to paint the inside walls of his new entryway, but he's been too busy to paint yet.

This afternoon he's planting new grape vines. They were talking about pulling out the vines along the driveway and planting new varieties there. This would give them the oppurtunity to tear out the old rusty pipes supporting them and make a new trellis, since more of the pipes broke off this summer. Garry may be out there a while, he went to the place he got grapes this fall, to buy 10 plants (Victor and Maxim had wanted some for their yards.) Now he is planting seventeen vines, because the guy kept saying, wait you need one like this, I'll give it to you, and no one wanted to plant any after all.
