However, today he came back from the field smiling because there is corn up, he says he can almost row it. That means look across the field and see the rows of tiny corn plants.
The village herd has been going out to pasture for more than a week now, they're pretty calm now.
This morning he planted the tomatoes in the garden, including the Crawford's three yellow tomato plants. We also put two flats of pepper plants in our garden, since we have that many more in the house, probably more. We can't tell which are the hot peppers (four kinds of seed) and the green bell peppers so we'll just plant them all.
I did a bit of hoeing in the garden, while he was planting, it's amazing how a couple days of mid 20s C ( mid to upper 70s F) weather changes things in the village, the guys have gone from winter coats to shorts and plastic sandals for work. More than one of the neighbors has been working outside shirtless.
We'll see if any real rain comes, it has been in the forecast for this week, back out, and now back in. It felt like we could get thunderstorms today, but that never happened. They still haven't gotten any water on the alfalfa field, everything is ready, but the big irrigation line had a leak somewhere and they shut it down to fix it on Thursday I think, they hope it's working tomorrow, because it will be time to do first cut hay in about two weeks.
Or maybe it will rain... they'll probably want to water it.
