We had a pretty normal weekend, Garry taught English on Saturday. Since he did an extra couple of classes, we did not take the students shopping in Zaporosia, we are trying to go just every other week, on the weeks he only does two classes. I made sauce for the spagetti dinner planned for Monday night. After dinner, we had a zoom call with our small group from Zaporosia- it's much harder to meet in person with Steve and Jo living in Winnipeg! It was good to touch base with them and Jessica. We had a surprize the evening before on a zoom call about teaching English next week in Dnepro, Jessica was on that call and will be the other 'off-line' or in person teacher! There aren't many native English speakers around now.
This was the Sunday that we go to speak to Lena's English students, so I double masked up and we were off to the city after working on Garry's puzzle for a while in the morning. We had a tasty lunch out at our favorite pizza place before teaching, and a group photo outside. I taught some idioms and Garry told the story of not letting the cats out of the bag when we moved to Canada from New York state, and about Jesus at the Temple.
After that we headed home, I had picked up the veggies I needed for the pasta salad before the class. We were back in the village an hour or so before our son's online church service, and later had Garry's family zoom call. We had talked to a couple of our kids over the weekend also, we often keep up with what's going on that way or messages on our own family chat.
Monday I was busy in the morning making the salad and dessert for that night's student dinner, in the afternoon I helped Garry with his latest 1500 piece puzzle (which he finished that evening after everyone left... well after he washed dishes, anyway) until I had to get the spagetti cooked and the garlic bread made. Did I say it was Italian-America style dinner?
We are now shutting the chickens in at night after a terrible event, a fox or something got in the coop, one hen was dead inside and the white rooster was dead outside Saturday morning. We have checked the fence for weak spots and are closing the chicken door so they are not out before six am with the sunrise, but safe, hopefully. Garry had thought his biggest problem were the two hens that were flying out every morning, he clipped their wings. They both survived, I think.
