Spring Holiday time in Ukraine

Woman returning from Church on Sunday - Palm Sunday

Mother and daughter carrying pussy willows
Ukraine follows the Orthodox church and the Julian calendar, so Easter is celebrated this year on May 5th. The other four years we have been in Ukraine the holiday was the same or only a week different from the North American Easter day.

The Orthodox church blesses pussy willow branches on Palm Sunday. Usually they are in bud but this year it is so late most people were carrying branches with leaves on Sunday.

Many people were enjoying the park after lunch

Lots of families with kids and stuff to buy

The tulips were blooming

These women were planting flowers in the tulip beds by the rides

Food- including cotton candy for just 10 grivna (about $ 1.20)
This year Easter falls during the busy holiday time, today is May Day which I am told is a day established in the Soviet Union to show solidarity with the worker and unions of the the world (or North America, it was established after union unrest in the US.)

There are so many holidays in the next two weeks Garry could not get an appointment to talk to the milk company until May 13th because they are not available until then.
