Friday

Exciting day. This morning the guys started planting sunflowers.  Sunflowers can take a little frost so they are planted before the corn. We took a couple photos on the way to Dnepro after lunch.  Still lots of fields to plant, however. Sunflowers will go on all the fields without irrigation that were not planted in winter wheat. There is rain in the forecast for the next week, so planting may be delayed.  However Garry always says rain is a blessing no matter what in this dry summer climate.

As things start to wind up with farmwork, Garry is anxious to wind down his English teaching.  There isn't enough  time  to get everything done.  This morning Garry worked on finishing at Yana's because she's moving in. He was building until one o'clock,  then ate his dinner that was waiting for him,  showered and we were on our way to Dnepro.

Here's a few pictures I took today at Yana's.  Garry was working on putting in a few more kitchen cabinets with the help of neighbor boy Serosia (used to be Seroshka).

As you can see Garry got the mirror/medicine cabinet hung this morning in the bathroom.  The anchors Scott and Shannon had made it nice and secure. He got the showerhead up, too. Too bad there isn't any water in the cistern so someone could shower. Hopefully that will happen next week.

The guys were nearly finished with the cement cover on the cistern at one o'clock today.
Garry is hoping to actually get more work done on the heifer barn on Monday.
