Apparently It's not the original Oleg that's picking up milk today but Oleg number two from Zaporosia who buys milk in 3 liter glass jars that someone helps him fill when he comes. Oleg one is not coming, he is shut down due to the death of the employee. Believe it or not in the last couple weeks we have a third Oleg the milk buyer, who gets milk in 20 liter containers, I think. We also have Alex from Morosnika- the little village beyond ours, who started out buying the excess milk in 100 liter batches when he didn't have enough to kept his customers supplied back in February I think. He is putting 2 kids through university, which is why he works several jobs according to Max. Plus many people from the village come in to buy a couple liters everyday.
Garry says if he can get a decent offer from Danone, he may go with it and cut loose the milk buyers and all the problems- including Someone (normally Maxim) being availiable to help, supervise, collect cash and tally amounts going in and out of the supply. Today the milker ladies and at least one neighbor are making cheese and sour cream for the excess milk backlog. Max is planting a couple little pieces of alfalfa for people in the village this morning, then the airseeder will be returned and the roller (cultipacker) will be borrowed and used to go over the field. Then Garry hopes to get the field the big farmer assigned him ready to plant (burn off the sunflower stalks and weed debris) apparently we got this field because it was not plowed as it should have been in the fall.
But the sun is shining and it is supposed to be 18 degrees C, so it looks like a great day for field work....or maybe planting peas and spinach...
