New way to inflate balloons...and a dead chicken

Yesterday the guys returned from Dnepro with some flowers for me that they bought at the market- I'll have to figure out where to plant them. Garry also bought a tomato plant, a head of lettuce and some green peppers to chop up for the pizza I was making...our visitors got to share in Superman and pizza Friday night.

While they were gone Needles climbed into a box and got his head in a bag handle- the other cat chased him for a while before he stopped so I could pull it off. Meanwhile outside there was a new drama unfolding with the neighbor lady- I could see her wandering around with a dead chicken under her arm. Then she came into our yard with two long sticks, picked up a rock and threw it at something- I couldn't see what- in our front yard, and proceeded to march up the driveway with chickens racing ahead of her. Apparently with everyone gone she took her complaints to the milker ladies. Then I heard Polo barking a while later and when I looked outside to see if anyone was coming up the drive (the only time he barks) I found him on his doghouse chain- he hasn't been tied up since we left at Christmastime.

When Garry and the boys returned, Seth and Jonah went out to help feed the cows with Garry while I finished making pizza and chatted with our visitors. The babushka came marching up with the dead chicken to Garry, talking so fast in Russian he couldn't catch anything except coorista (chicken) and sabaca (dog) so Garry dialed Victor and handed her the phone. It turns out she found this dead chicken on our yard so in her mind Polo is the guilty party (never mind the fact that it could be Mint, the other two dogs that are in our yard a lot or any number that wander through daily could have carried it here- or one of them found it already dead.)To top off the whole story- the chicken wasn't her chicken (she told Victor she counted and all 4 of her brown chickens were there)- she spend two hours going up and down the street asking everyone if it was their dead chicken!

Polo may have to stay tied up for his own safety when he's not inside the house- she has blamed our cat or dog everytime she thinks she's missing a chick or hen ever since we moved in. This happens only two weeks after her son had her sign another neighbor complaint against us with the agency that investigates such claims saying that our barn is smelly and there are too many trucks coming in our drive (it's on her side of our house)- of course she has people coming to her door at all hours- she distills homebrew vodka and sells it and her chickens run all over our yard.

This morning Garry and his company took off for a tour of Crimea- he called around four to say they were checked into the Stevasotpol Hotel and had went to the Khan Palace on the way down. Max got back last night before the pizza was cold, and is in charge for the weekend- Easter weekend he's going home- his mom is going to kill the fattened pig for the celebration. A truck of brewers' grain came this afternoon, and the sun is shining after a little rain shower.

The boys and I got through the review and experiment for module six of chemistry- we got no homeschooling work done yesterday with their dentist appointment (some braces were removed and they got giraffe elastics this time.) They used up a pile of baking soda and vinegar to blow up balloons with chemistry- as you can see no balloons were harmed in this experiment- although they did put on the safety goggles after the second balloon just in case!
