Mostly done building

Right now it's early Saturday morning. We plan to run into one of the giant hardware/ home stores again this morning, Garry needs a couple more pieces to finish connecting all the plumbing inside the house. Yesterday morning we picked up a pile of elbows and tees but of course, the sink has slightly different fittings that everything else Garry was working on yesterday after we got back.

I thought we had some left over floral tiles to use for the kitchen backsplash, but yesterday I realized that we had used those six tiles in Yana's house last year. So we hunted around and found some tile in Yana's chicken coop! Last year it was a storage area while the BC team was working on her house, and that half of the building wasn't being used by the chickens. However, sometime in the last year the chickens moved in!

First we thought we'd use white tiles, since I had to buy more white grout yesterday to finish the bathroom ( our 2 kilogram bag should have had 2.2 in, so we'll have lots leftover after buying a second bag. We had debated whether we needed the two or the four kilo bag the first time we shopped for grout. However, Garry brought back  two white tiles and two slate look ones we'd used on the floor, which he thought we had a couple boxes of leftover from last year. We held one up, decided it grounded the black hood nicely, and went well with the little accent one inch tiles I'd brought back from New Jersey when I did my dad's shower a year and half ago. Garry went to get the rest and discovered there were only three and half more 60 by 30 (metric) tiles in the slate. However, I ended up with a tile and a half left over, and the boxes of white tiles are going into the container, where they should have been anyway. I did have wash chicken poop off the tile that had been on top of the pile!

Here's some more photos from this week's finishing details. Little things like adding a light switch in the laundry room!

the breaker for all the lights in the house to turn it off!
