or I can do wash again... we were having a problem with the washing machine this week- it would pause part way through the cycle with all the lights flashing happily at me, of course it has an automatic lock once the cycle starts, so I had a couple loads where I tried unplugging it, resetting the cycle- if you went to delicate with no spin it would finish and I could open it and carry the soaking wet clothes outside to hang on the clothesline!
Anyway on Wednesday we had become so frustrated with it we were talking of buying a new one. Since Victor was out to the village, they decided to send it back to the city with him to get it looked at by a repairman. However when Garry hurried in to disconnect it he discovered the valve would not shut the water off completely. He told me he'd have to leave it there. I told him while he was there, could he check the drain since it seemed the spin/water removing cycle was the problem. Victor helped him take it apart and they found the problem the filter to the drain was plugged with a number of kopeck coins and a mushed up 2 grivina bill.
Thursday I hung out a load of laundry at noon- at two o'clock I went outside and decided it wasn't quite dry enough to bring in. Ten minutes later I looked out the window and it was pouring. Too late- that load got an extra rinse. Garry had gone to Dnepropetroesk- he is buying a new mower to cut the rye next week (and the alfalfa when its time to make hay.) The boys and I spent the next hour reading Canadian history (and eating cookies.) Max went to visit a friend up the street after coming in from welding on the new sides for the precept (wagon) looking rather wet. Jonah brought the kittens inside and they spent the rest of the days chasing each other around in the house. They did take a nap on the Mennonite couch with Needles who was resting up from being outside- since it has gotten warm, that cat is out as much as he is in the house.
Although the thunderstorm hung around for an hour and made puddles, Garry was wishing for more as he said you could still kick over dry dirt in the garden when he got home. The forcast had a 70% chance of more thundershowers for Thursday night, but no more arrived. However, there is more rain in the forecast this week, so we might got more- maybe even before the clothes get dry again- it's cloudy this morning.
Garry and Maxim had the heifers out to the road before the herd came up the street this morning- Monday and Tuesday they were trying to finish feeding the cows before chasing the heifers and dry cows out of the pens and down the driveway and ended up chasing them down when the herd was way past our house- just in sight.
The cherry and apple trees are in bloom this week. There is a scattering of flower petals from the trees on the ground this morning, looks like confetti with more flying through the air everytime the wind blows.
Yesterday the milk tank was empty and washed again- with a little help- Garry took the 600 liters left and put it in cans. Later Thursday Oleg (#1- I assume) bought 300 of that, and the lady buyer took more this morning with her cold milk- now that we have could milk everybody (except the one Oleg) wants that good milk!
Today Garry needs to have 278 liters of good cold milk for his newest buyer Vitaly who is selling it as a premium product made by a Canadian farmer. He sold all he took last week. So Garry should be able to get the tank washed again before the afternoon milking- three times in one week! Only four cans of old milk from yesterday left in the milkhouse too.
