Building team

Just a week ago, our plans to have a group of people from Salmon Arm BC, plus Doug and Marcie from Steinbach went up in smoke, as Ukraine closed the border to foreigners days before they were due to arrive. Less than a week ago, the borders closed, flights were grounded, neighboring EU countries closed to all non-citizens. Basically, we are stuck here for the duration, however long it takes.

Of course Garry is keeping busy building with the students and Max. Since Ukraine has a ban on meeting of more than ten people, not everyone is working, or eating lunch inside the build! This morning Garry told me not to make a pot of soup, but by 9:30 he came in our house for some glue and said "there's lots of them over there, I guess you should make a potful."

Valentina chopped up four onions, I did the potatoes, threw in two bags of carrots I froze last summer from the garden, and boiled three chicken breasts and chopped them up for the soup, some spices and salt, and everyone was happy. Two loaves of bread made into sandwiches, and one sliced plain, and cookies, tea and coffee.

Garry and the students were amusing themselves today by calling Max Jeremy since he was doing the electric today in the house. He says he's learned lots watching Jeremy the last couple years. Garry says I should post photos of the New Jeremy and Jack, and Doug and Marcie...

New Jeremy

New Jeremy and Jacob?, it would be his first trip here

Jack and maybe one of Jeremy's sisters (two were coming)
although we all know Leila would have been there anyway, cleaning

Doug?

Must be Jack and Christopher Stefanyk!

Richard and Matthew?

Anyway, it may take a month instead of a week, but the guys hope to live up to their namesakes on the Canadian team! The siding is on the front and one side of the house, Monday they work inside as it is raining out tonight, the rest of the siding may have to wait.

New Marcie helping me in the kitchen!

Nikolai was working near the top of the cistern yesterday, but today he was back at the bottom, making the smoother coat of cement. There's always one guy making the cement in the mixer and bucketing it down for him.
Valera using the angle grinder to cut the vinyl siding,
they discovered it works better than cutting it with a knife,
less breakage
